Minuteman finish first day of volunteer border patrol
Robert Anglen

Apr. 1, 2007 04:57 PM
Less than 24 hours after beginning patrols of the U.S.-Mexico border near Nogales, members of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps say they encountered as many as 350 undocumented immigrants.
Minuteman president Chris Simcox said Sunday that his group had rescued seven immigrants, found the body of another and led border agents to hundreds of others in the first day of a month-long citizen effort to deter illegal immigration.
"It's a free for all down here," Simcox said, as his radio cracked with reports that eight immigrants had just been sighted near a water tank. "This place is crawling with (immigrants) . . . It's an amnesty rush."

U.S. Border Patrol agents, who do not endorse the citizen effort, confirmed that the Minuteman group was having a busy weekend. One agent said in the first four hours of his shift Sunday morning, he had responded to calls involving as many as 60 illegal immigrants.
"The numbers may be going up because of the weather," U.S. Border Patrol agent Robert Sanchez said. "We're talking about an area west of Nogales to Ajo . . . That's a lot of ground."
This is the third year that the Minuteman volunteers have led its controversial border patrols, which have been criticized by human rights groups as vigilantism. It comes after Border Patrol reports that apprehensions of undocumented immigrants are down sharply compared with previous years.
"Whoever's saying that, they haven't been to Altar Valley," Simcox said.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

" four hours of his shift Sunday morning, he had responded to calls involving as many as 60 illegal immigrants."
So thats going to work out to about 360 in a 24 hour time frame in just one section of the border in just one border state.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Minuteman leader says border is 'free-for-all'
Associated Press
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 04.02.2007
PHOENIX - The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps reported encountering hundreds of illegal immigrants less than a day after renewing patrols along the U.S.-Mexico border near Nogales.
''It's a free-for-all down here,'' Minuteman President Chris Simcox said. ''It's an amnesty rush.''
He said his group rescued seven immigrants, found the body of another and led border agents to hundreds of immigrants on Saturday and Sunday.
U.S. Border Patrol agents confirmed the Minutemen were busy. One agent said in the first four hours of his shift Sunday morning, he had responded to calls involving as many as 60 illegal immigrants.
''The numbers may be going up because of the weather,'' Agent Robert Sanchez said. ''We're talking about an area west of Nogales to Ajo ... That's a lot of ground.''
For the month of April, armed Minuteman volunteers will be stationed at observation posts along smuggling corridors in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas in an effort to curb illegal immigration.
The Minuteman group is in its third year of border deployments. But this year, Border Patrol agents say the apprehension of illegal immigrants is sharply down.
''Whoever's saying that, they haven't been to Altar Valley,'' Simcox said.

guess the national guard is not being as good as bush and ICE would like us to believe. Anyone who didn't believe that this was going to happen was not thinking. the same thing happened in 1986. History should teach us lessons but in the case of illegals, either our politicans are not reading history, at blind, or the pay off is to good.

Notice how they changed his quote and called them "immigrants"? Chris Simcox would not call illegal aliens "immigrants", that is the doing of this reporter and his/her editors.

Thank God for the Minutemen, those slime balls are going to try to make people believe they have closed the border then pass a comprehensive immigration bill.
I would love to have the count of how many crossed the border since last year at this time.
I did notice they changed it, Simcox would have said illegal alien as it should be.Please support ALIPAC's fight to save American Jobs & Lives from illegal immigration by joining our free Activists E-Mail Alerts (CLICK HERE)

in listening to the minuteman radio show on the net sunday night.
Chris Simcox said that within the first hours they found one dead man with a broken leg about 40 feet or yards from the main road. (i forgot if it was feet or yards but it wasnt too far off)
others came to their watch areas and surrender saying that they were left behind by the coyote because these two were talking too much and that they had not eaten in a couple of days. they also said they saw 311 people, one was a group of 25 and another was 39. he thinks the BP actually may have gotten one out of every three.
he also said that for the 50 mile patrol area that there was 35 agents on duty.
This is totally unexcusable !

Minutemen Find 400 Illegal Immigrants Near Nogales
April 2nd, 2007 @ 1:00pm by Jim Cross/KTAR
Minuteman volunteers reported 400 illegal immigrants over the weekend along the U.S.-Mexico border near Nogales.
Minuteman president Chris Simcox said he has never seen it this bad. Simcox told News 92.3 KTAR's Darrell Ankarlo it's a "Rush to Amnesty."
"And coming in here to have jackpot babies, as we call them," Simcox said. "I mean basically come in, have a child, you get to stay, you get to bring the rest of your family. That's what the legislation would entitle these people too."
The Minuteman group will be deployed along the border for the month of April.
Simcox said he has never seen the Arizona-Mexico border this porous.
"Basically, they approach our groups they see them they do one of two things. They either sit down just voluntarily, or they run by us," Simcox said.
Last April, Minutemen volunteers observed 1500 illegal immigrants in the course of a month. In the past two days, Chris Simcox said his volunteers have spotted 400 illegal immigrants.
"I've never seen it this bad ever," Simcox said. "I mean they're everywhere."
"That's what it is, they're coming quickly to get in because they know they'll get to stay," Simcox said.
Simcox said his volunteers are backing up the Border Patrol and then some.
"We have 35 to 40 to 50 people on the line at any one time," Simcox said. "Border Patrol agents said they have no more than 40 agents on duty on the ground during any one 8-hour shift."
