New book by Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist and “Unfit for Command” author Jerome Corsi reveals shocking information about illegal immigration, challenges Washington DC. Available nationwide next week. Book tour to begin at Ground Zero.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 19, 2006 -- George W. Bush once referred to Minutemen volunteers as “vigilantes,” but a new book set to debut next week promises to give the border-watch group a chance to respond, and to change the nature of the illegal immigration debate in the process.

“Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America’s Borders” (World Ahead Publishing, hardcover, $25.95, ISBN 0977898415) is written by Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist and “Unfit for Command” co-author Jerome Corsi. The book hits stores nationwide on July 25, and the following day its authors will begin their book tour in New York City at Ground Zero, a site chosen as a symbolic reminder of the connection between border security and national security.

“The terrorist hijackers on 9/11 were in this country illegally,” notes Gilchrist, a Marine Corps veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. “We might have avoided that tragedy had the federal government been willing to enforce the immigration laws already on the books. But five years and thousands of lives later, Washington DC still refuses to do its job. That’s why I organized the Minuteman Project, and that’s also why I felt compelled to write this book.”

Though not yet published, “Minutemen” is already generating excitement among conservatives who oppose the U.S. Senate’s plan to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants without first securing the borders. The book offer proof positive that illegal immigration is a greater problem than the federal government admits, and that America’s open borders are a national security risk that expose the nation to an influx of drugs, violent gangs, and potential terrorists.

The many shocking revelations in “Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America’s Borders” include:

* The real number of illegal aliens in the country is not 12 million, which the federal government claims, but closer to 30 million.
* The IRS -- famous for hounding citizens who make honest mistakes on their returns -- has paid out $10 billion in refunds and credits to illegal aliens who used fraudulent Social Security numbers, and it has no intention of going after those who’ve made fraudulent claims.
* Over 3,000 illegal aliens suspected of murdering Americans have fled to Mexico, where they often live openly and without fear of arrest.

“Illegal immigration is out of control, and Americans are paying for it with their pocketbooks and -- far too often -- with their lives,” claims Corsi, whose prior book “Unfit for Command” is generally credited with causing John Kerry’s defeat in the 2004 presidential election. “Our government is not being honest with us about the extent of the problem. This book will put a stop to that deception.”

“‘Minutemen’ is going to shift the debate on illegal immigration,” states Eric M. Jackson, president of World Ahead Publishing. “This book makes the most compelling case to date of the danger that illegal immigration and open borders pose to America’s future. Gilchrist and Corsi’s combination of in-depth research and first-hand accounts of what Minutemen volunteers encounter as they patrol our nation’s borders will stun readers.

“This book is going to reverberate from Southern California through the heartland and all the way to the halls of Capitol Hill,” adds Jackson.

“Minutemen” features a foreword by Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), 16 pages of shocking pictures, and a link to exclusive online content. In addition to being available in bookstores nationwide next week, “Minutemen” is a selection of multiple book clubs, including a main selection for American Compass and an alternate selection for the Conservative Book Club. It is also available for purchase through conservative news websites such as WorldNetDaily and NewsMax.
