A large group of key Immigration Reform supporters in Washington, DC including 12 Congressmen from the House Immigration Reform Caucus participated in the Rally at the Capital Hill Club.

HSP Direct organized the event with the support of America’s PAC – Capitol Watch - Citizens United - Patrick Henry Center - RightMarch.com - American Caging, Inc.

Contrary to recent reports in the media, the MCDC has greatly expanded since April of 2005 to put forth a strong national effort with thousands of registered volunteers to assist in securing this nation’s borders from illegal entry.

Chris Simcox introduced the Vietnam Veterans and Gulf War Coalition and Rolling Thunder at the event as active supporters of Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. These large veterans groups are placing volunteers on the border to participate in our October efforts to secure the border and report illegal activity to the Border Patrol.

The risk of terrorists and criminals entering this country through our wide open borders is at a critical level. When the government fails to fulfill its primary duty and protect this nation, it is up to self-governing people to step into the breach. Americans have historically organized and done what is necessary to defend this country. Today is no different. Our Minuteman volunteers act as extra eyes and ears for the Border Patrol, spotting illegal activity at the borders and reporting it to the authorities.

Reports out this week found the pace of illegal immigration to the United States has increased despite tighter security measures and it generally parallels the pace of economic growth and the availability of jobs. The report by the Pew Hispanic Center also found that the stronger security steps since the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 have had the effect of reducing legal immigration.

Overall, immigration to the United States declined along with the economy after 2000, but the report says the number of people trying to get into the country is on the upswing again. Reports confirmed that illegal immigration in this country outnumbers legal entry.

Supporters of open borders and illegal immigration were outside of the event protesting our right to peaceably assemble. They tried to block the entrance with bicycles chained together, but the U.S. Capitol Police were there to break up the blockade. They continued throughout the evening shouting “racist through their bullhorns, but were unable to disrupt the event.
