Migrant injured after falling from cliff

A Mexican man was transported to a Tucson hospital after falling 60 feet from a cliff, sheriff's authorities said.

Ricardo Picos- Lara, 28, of Mexico, was air evacuated to Tucson Medical Center, said Carol Capas, a spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff's Department.

Lara was complaining of having no feeling from his waist down.

Over the weekend, Border Patrol agents were tracking suspected drug smugglers from Silver Creek to the Highway 80 area, Capas said.

The agents found a group of migrants at about 6:30 a.m.. When the migrants saw the agents, the migrants fled and ran up a cliff.

As they were scrambling up the cliff, Lara fell and injured his head.

The agents detained five people. One other person was not caught.

Agents seized 250 pounds of marijuana, Capas said.
