Mission Police Investigating Possible Human Smuggling Operation

MISSION - Police stayed busy investigating several scenes around western Hidalgo County.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS was on the scene when a possible human smuggling investigation led police to an area on Buena Vista and Moorefield Road. It's unclear what officers found.

Not far from there, Mission police arrested a man and a woman on 8 Mile and Buena Vista. They were taken into custody during a traffic stop. We're still trying to find out if they will face any criminal charges.

Around the same time, officers detained several people, believed to be illegal immigrants, in the McCook area. We're told as many as 12 illegals may have been in a truck.

Police will be busy today sorting everything out. We'll stay in touch with them and keep you updated.
