    In federal court
The following information was released by the federal prosecutor's office for defendants appearing in federal court Monday before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.

    SENTENCED

    Name: Pedro Quino-Teodoro

    Age: 25

Charge: Two felony counts of tampering with a witness

    Sentence: 36 months

Summary: On June 27, Cape Girardeau police officers were called to investigate a fight in progress, where many of the witnesses were Spanish. An officer fluent in Spanish spoke to Quino-Teodoro, who admitted he was living illegally in the United States. Quino-Teodoro threatened the officer, saying if the officer reported him he'd kill his daughter. Quino-Teodoro made a throat-slashing motion when he made the statement to the officer.

In route to the police station, Quino-Teodoro made a second threat to the officer.

    Illegal Aliens

Instead of keeping that illegal alien in the United States (jail), he must be deported now.

While I understand your frustration with this situation, I respectfully disagree with immediate deportation. The man will be back by next week if he is simply deposited across the border. Give him 36 months of no freebies, no remittances to his family, and let him think twice about returning. Even if he does come back, at least the American public is safe from this guy for 36 months.

If he wants all the freedoms and benefits of Americans, let him pay the price that Americans do when the disobey the law.

I agree with ReggieMay. Furthermore, deportation is not a punishment. The illegal threatened the officers daughter's life - twice. All criminals, including illegal aliens, need to know that doing the crime means you're going to do the time. Ignoring their crimes against Americans and simply electing to deport them does not instill respect for the law.
