Suspect in Semmes murder flees to Mexico
Last Update: 1/10/2006 9:05:20 AM
(MOBILE, Ala.) January 9- A mobile home in Semmes is now a murder scene, but before that, authorities say it was home to Luis Perez and two others, the man he's accused of killing and another he's accused of injuring. The sheriff's office says the three were illegal aliens in town for work. Now they believe 18-year-old Perez has fled to Mexico after the shooting Saturday morning on the 71-hundred block of Timber Woods Drive in Semmes. Authorities in Marshall, Texas found Perez's car abandoned behind a bus station. Records show he bought a bus ticket to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. The roofer who hired them wants to remain anonymous, but says they were a good hire. "I have a crew of white guys, and they were a crew and they do twice as much," said the roofer.
In Mobile Monday, a member of a crew replacing a roof on a business told NBC 15 they were from Mexico, but claimed they worked here legally. Authorities say there are many others that are not. Since Hurricane Katrina, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office says it's seen a rise in illegal aliens, who are often willing to work cheap. Mickey Pledger with U. S. Immigration and Customs believes many may have been here since Ivan. "There's a lot more employment, whether it's putting roofs on houses or sheet rock," said Pledger. "A lot more employment opportunities than there used to be. I think it's obvious, if you look at all the blue tarps that are still evident in a lot of parts of Alabama."
Pledger says resources keep agents from chasing down those working here without permission. "We have to look at the people who represent the biggest threat to the population, aggravated felons who are illegal aliens, people who have child molestation in their backgrounds, things like that," said Pledger. "Those are the kinds of people who are targeted."
Pledger says it is against the law to hire illegal aliens. but if you hire a roofing or repair company that employs them, you are not to blame. The company is responsible for verifying their citizenship.Equal rights for all, special privileges for none. Thomas Jefferson

When are they going to understand that 'aggravated felons' are hiding among those 'workers'??? We've seen it so often and we've got the drift...why on earth don't LEOs see it??
Get those illegals out of here...NOW...why do they have to commit ANOTHER crime before they're arrested and deported??
