SAN DIEGO – Two abandoned boats that may have been used in human smuggling were discovered along the shore Wednesday morning.
One was discovered washed ashore at Torrey Pines State Beach and a second was found in the surf along the Silver Strand in Coronado, said Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Lauren Mack.
While authorities found no evidence of human smuggling such as backpacks, food or trash in the first boat, the 26- to 28-foot-long vessel was similar to some found recently that were used in immigrant trafficking, Mack said.
The second boat did contain water bottles, potato chip bags and other debris. It had been floating all morning according to witnesses, Mack said.
More than a dozen smuggling boats have been found along the San Diego County coast over the past several months.

Next they'll be dropping from the sky.
