Here we go again catering to the Hispanics. We already have too much of their show on cable and I don't appreciate paying for multiple channels that aren't in English and who degrade women. Most good FM radio stations are gone and have been replaced by Hispanic as well.

WPLG-TV 10 is going Latino -- on a new digital channel that is.

The ABC affiliate is one of four Post-Newsweek stations that will launch LATV, known as Latino Alternative, this spring on their digital channels.

The programming, which is currently produced and aired on KJLA-TV 57 in Los Angeles, is mainly in English but comprises Latin music videos and shows about movies and artists. The target market is Hispanics aged 12 to 34.

''It's Latin pop culture,'' said Dave Boylan, vice president and general manager of WPLG. ``We think it's a natural fit for us.''

Boylan said WPLG will sell local ads and market the network, which will be available over the air with a digital receiver and on the broadcast-digital tier of cable systems. Eventually, he hopes to produce programming at WPLG's new headquarters in Pembroke Park.

Post-Newsweek is the first group to sign up for LATV and has taken an ownership stake in the company. It will air LATV on digital channels in San Antonio, Texas; Orlando and Houston, as well as South Florida.
