Austin police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the April 21 shooting death of an 18-year-old Mexican immigrant as he walked through a parking lot with his father.

Catalina Corona-Mendez, 31, was arrested Tuesday in the 1400 block of St. John's Avenue and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony. Her bail was set at $400,000.

Police already had arrested Christian Palacios, 36, and charged him with capital murder in the death of Gamaliel Jimenez Bohorquez.

Police have said that Palacios is a member of the violent international MS-13 gang. The shooting was the first violent crime attributed to a member of the gang in Austin.

Police said they think Corona-Mendez and Palacios approached Bohorquez and his father to rob them. They said Bohorquez was shot during the robbery. He later died at Brackenridge Hospital.
