State and local police seized 2.8 million dollars in drugs and money after pulling over a nervous man in the city of Alpharetta, police said Wednesday.

Mr. Ignacio Pineda, 27, was charged with trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine, according to the Alpharetta Department of Public safety.

He also faces charges for immigration and traffic violations, spokesman Mr. George Gordon said.

The investigation began on Jan. 26 when Georgia State Patrol troopers pulled over a motorist in a brown Honda Accord, Mr. Gordon said.

Mr. Pineda presented the troopers with a Mexican driver’s license, Mr. Gordon said.

“He appeared very nervous, Mr. Gordon said. “The on-scene investigation determined Pineda was an unlicensed illegal alien and could not provide any information regarding the ownership of the vehicle.”

The troopers placed him under arrest for driving while unlicensed and called Alpharetta police assisted in the incident and interviewed Mr. Pineda.

Investigators found a large duffel bag containing kilos of illegal narcotics in the vehicle.

“A check of the trunk revealed very large trash bags containing numerous kilos of narcotics and a sizeable amount of United States currency,” Mr. Gordon said. “The narcotics was tested on scene and resulted in a positive finding of cocaine and methamphetamine.”

By the end of the day, police placed into evidence 87 kilos of cocaine, 1 kilo of methamphetamine and four large bags of cash that totaled more than $130,000 dollars, Mr. Gordon said.
