MS-13 Gang Member Nabbed By U.S. Border Patrol

Grand Island, N.Y. -- A MS-13 gang member identified as having a felony warrant was apprehended by Buffalo Sector Border Patrol agents this past week.

On May 19, the New York State Police in the Town of Homer contacted the Border Patrol to assist in the identification of an individual in their custody. Agents from the Oswego Station responded to the call and apprehended a 35-year-old Salvadoran national. During processing at the Oswego Station, the individual admitted to being a member of MS-13 and record checks returned from the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System identified the individual as having an active felony warrant in New York City.

Lopez will be turned over to the New York City Warrants Division.

The Border Patrol strives to keep dangerous individuals from reaching local communities. All individuals appended undergo a criminal history check using the IAFIS, allowing agents to quickly identify and classify violent criminals and wanted persons.
