Police investigate the scene of the double homicide at Los Jarochitas on Saturday night.

GREENSBORO — Police on Sunday identified two men killed and one found dead a day earlier but offered little other information.

Brothers Manuel Garcia Salinas, 42, and Ruben Garcia Salinas, 31, of unknown addresses, were shot and killed at Las Jarochitas, a restaurant at 3738 High Point Road.

Another man was critically injured in the shooting. A fourth was injured in a collision with a burgundy sport-utility vehicle in the parking lot after the shooting.

The two men were taken to Moses Cone Hospital. Police did not release their names.

Police Chief Tim Bellamy said members of MS-13, a nationwide gang with origins in Central America known for exceptional violence, may have been involved.

The restaurant on Sunday afternoon was closed and dark, a tarp behind the door blocking the interior from sight.

Meanwhile, police have identified a man found slain in his home at 1118 Warren St. as Steve Tickle, 53. He was found Saturday after neighbors asked police to check on him.

The three weekend killings brought the total for the year to 30, three higher than the total for 2006.

The first eight days of December saw seven homicides in Greensboro.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at

    373-1000.

    What should council do? (Blog)
The Greensboro City Council will hold an emergency meeting at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the homicides that have occurred over the past two weeks, including three that happened over the weekend.

Police Chief Tim Bellamy will give the council an update on his department’s efforts to stem the crime wave.

The meeting will be held at City Hall at 300 W. Washington St.

The three weekend killings brought the total for the year to 30, three higher than the total for 2006.

The first eight days of December saw seven homicides in Greensboro.

Gangs’ culture of violence may be responsible for a double homicide at a busy High Point Road restaurant Saturday evening, police said.

"It may be gang members being gang members," said Capt. Gary Hastings, commander of the department’s criminal investigation division.

A police official who said Monday morning that the victims of the shooting were also gang members said further investigation revealed they were probably not affiliated with a gang.
