A Deer Lodge man was sentenced in Missoula federal court to 12 years in prison for possessing methamphetamine and harboring illegal aliens.

Francisco Isabel Romero, 26, was arrested at his residence in late September for having four pounds of meth, valued at about $170,000. Officers with the Montana Drug Task Force raided Romero’s logging camp Sept. 26 in Granite County and found a large amount of meth.

The task force also discovered three illegal aliens from Mexico living in a trailer in the vicinity. Investigators say Romero hired the illegal aliens to work on his post-and-pole business.

Chief U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy also ordered Romero to five years of supervised release and to pay a $600 special assessment fee.
