MT GOP Party Platform: Deport Illegal Immigrants

    Republicans tussle over immigration issue

    Jun 21 2008 1:32PM
    Associated Press

Missoula, Mont. (AP) Montana Republicans have changed their platform to state they favor rounding up illegal immigrants and deporting them.

That language was added to the platform after a fight at the party's state convention, which wrapped up Saturday in Missoula.

Critics said it is unrealistic to think the United States could round up millions of illegal immigrants. They also said supporting such a notion sends the wrong message, and Republicans should instead advocate enforcement of existing border laws.

Supporters of the language said illegal immigrants apprehended by local law enforcement officers should be deported.

The party platform is a largely symbolic statement of ideals.

They did'nt really have a choice in the matter.
The Montana Democrats could'nt give a rats a$$ about the party platform in DC and have been voting for tougher anti - illegal immigration measures for YEARS.

This shouldn't even be an issue. Everyone should 'advocate enforcement of existing border laws.'

I follow the law or face the consequences & so should everyone else.
