Unbelievable! Where is the Webb County Sheriff's Office on this? If these are ranches, they aren't inside the city of Laredo and would fall into County jurisdiction.

Heh, about 10 minutes ago, the examiner had in big bold letters that this was not confirmed yet. They've now taken that "not confirmed" off and state it has been confirmed by 2 separate sources within the Laredo Police Department. As of yet, no major news network even in Laredo has picked up this story. How much you wanna bet the news media sweeps this under the rug like every other illegal alien story.

The report, which spread like wildfire among blogs Saturday afternoon, appears to have initially been posted on a blog called Diggers Realm.

The blogger wrote that he got a tip from a San Diego, Calif., minuteman named Jeff Schwilk, who said that the Zetas, former enforcers of the Gulf Cartel, had crossed into the United States and taken over two ranches off Mines Road, about 10 miles northwest of Interstate 35.

Quoting Schwilk, the blogger wrote that there was a standoff between “the unknown size Zeta forces and the U.S. Border Patrol and local law enforcement on two ranches …â€

I'm still looking for a major news network to pick this story up. The examiner isn't known for being thorough. We should have a better idea of what's going on tomorrow.
