A Sunnyvale resident, identified as a fugitive from El Salvador, has been deported to the Central American country to face charges of a gang-related double murder, immigration officials said.

Santos Lopez-Claudio, 36, was arrested at his home in November and was flown to El Salvador on Wednesday, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Immigration officials said Lopez-Claudio, whose real name is Wilber Alfredo Valle-Guerra, is charged with taking part in shootings by three members of the MS-13 gang that killed two people and wounded three in the community of Ilobasco in November 2006.

One of those killed was the head of Ilobasco's police force, Jose Manuel Alfaro Ordonez, the immigration agency said. It said Valle-Guerra had been deported from the United States earlier in 2006.
