N.C.: 'Not afraid to rattle some nerves'

'Not afraid to rattle some nerves'

In his first two years in Charlotte, Hector Vaca paid special attention to the city's landlords who he says profited by taking advantage of vulnerable immigrants.

In recent months, the community organizer with Action NC Charlotte has taken a more active role in the fight for immigration reform.

His methods are not always welcome. During this year's county commissioners campaign, Vaca and another advocate pretty much hijacked a local news conference calling for tougher local laws against illegal immigrants.

With TV cameras rolling, Vaca and another advocate peppered the candidates with comments and angered their supporters by questioning statements about illegal immigration and connections to the crime rate.

"I'm not afraid to rattle some nerves," Vaca says. "Sometimes we need that. Being overly diplomatic doesn't always get you answers."

OK, I'm certain that Vaca won't object to our clearly stated desire that the laws of this country be enforced

The U.S. Guide for New Immgrants specifically tells them that permanent residents must carry proof of their permanent resident status at all times.

Pulled this directly from the Action NC website:

    Immigrant Rights

    * We are empowering people in the fight for comprehensive immigration reform
    * Action NC is fighting hard to end the 287(g) program in North Carolina
    * Our membership is currently working hard, on the issue of separation of families, caused by ICE raids
    * Believing that gaining citizenship is only the first step to full participation, we run a strong Get Out the Vote program

Issues come straight from the membership, because Action NC believes that social change comes from the bottom up. Members are black, white, and Latino families who take ownership of their issues, by organizing their own communities to take action and are active in running the organization, not just contributors or newsletter readers.

Man, these pro-illegal advocacy groups are popping up like weeds.

Interestingly, they now seem to masquerade as local civil rights advocates, and then morph into something a little less palatable once they get their membership boosted. The liberals in the community seem to migrate to them quickly, being easily seduced by the propaganda.

Actually, the excerpt above reads more like ACORN NC now that I think about it!

Speaking of the rent money, if you dig a little you'll find that the unpatriotic landlord well knows that a government check and anchor babies go hand-in-hand. The government in fact, is the most reliable of renters, with a check arriving every month like clockwork and without fail.

Of course illegal alien families aren't the only ones reaping the benefits through HUD and other agencies in this regard, but rest assured there are many, many "landlords" across the country eager to get on the government dole regardless of the tenant.

You see, what Vaca and Action NC really wants is enhancements to the services. More for less if you will.
