N.C.: Three Arrested On Immigration Violations In Ammunition
Three Arrested On Immigration Violations In Ammunition Disposal Case
Last Updated: 7:24 PM Feb 15, 2008
Reporter: Dave Jordan
Authorities now have three people under arrest as they conduct an investigation into unspent anti-tank shells found in a Raleigh metal scrap yard.
A federal agent says three Hispanic men were being held on
immigration violations, but declined to elaborate about the case.
Disposal operations ended Friday at the plant. Raleigh police
said Army experts detonated 34 explosive devices.
Sanford police say they found similar shells at one man's home
and were told it came from the Fort Bragg area.
Two workers at Raleigh Metals Processors were injured Tuesday
when one of the munitions exploded as they sorted through the
material.

If these illegals had anti tank shells in their passion, they should have been detained as potential terrorists not simply on immigration violations. Had an American Citizen been found in possession of such a highly dangerous item, they would have likely been carted off to a secret court and water boarded until they confessed to either a real of fictitious plot to destroy tanks or some other terrorist activity.

Authorities: 3 arrested in ammunition disposal case
By MIKE BAKER : Associated Press Writer
The Associated Press

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Two scrap metal collectors and a third man have been arrested amid an investigation into unspent anti-tank shells that exploded this week at a Raleigh scrap yard, authorities said Friday.
All three Hispanic men were being held by federal authorities on immigration violations, said Joe Lenczyk, the Fayetteville and Smithfield resident agent in charge for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Authorities have found more than two-dozen live shells in the Raleigh scrap yard, and investigators traced the munitions to the two collectors. Sanford Police Department Capt. David Smith told The News & Observer of Raleigh that a search found similar artillery shells and spent casings at the home of one of the men and that the defendants said they got the material from the Fort Bragg area.
"We have information that leads us to believe (the munitions) were deliberately taken from a particular location," Lenczyk said, adding that authorities are still pursuing leads in the case. He declined to elaborate further.
Lenczyk said the investigation led to the arrest of a third person who was a felon in possession of a firearm. He was also being held on immigration charges, authorities said.
Several agencies, including the U.S. Attorney's Office in Raleigh and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, declined to release the names of those who were arrested.
Two workers at Raleigh Metals Processors were injured Tuesday when one of the munitions exploded as they sorted through the material.
Since then, explosive experts from Fort Bragg have spent days detonating powerful ammunitions at the scrap metal yard. The disposal operation finished Friday with a total of 34 detonations taking place, said Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue.
Authorities closed a section of the road near Raleigh Metals Processors and asked nearby residents to leave the homes during the detonations. Residents were being allowed to return Friday, Sughrue said, businesses affected by the detonations would be allowed to reopen.
The CEO of the facility, Greg Brown, said his business does accept material from the military, including spent shells, but would never knowingly accept live ammunition.
The U.S. Attorney's office in Raleigh, the FBI and the Army declined to discuss the details of the case.

So illegals in this country can obtain, steal, whatever dangerous munitons ans sell them and all we hear is that they may be deported. Another is arrested for trying to abduct children in Durham. Another crashes into a bus after already being charged for driving without a license. Yep, they are all just hard working people trying to make a better life for themselves at our expense...including out lives!

Four held on immigration charges in Raleigh weapons case
Associated Press
2008-02-22 11:33:00
RALEIGH — Four men have now been arrested amid the investigation into unspent anti-tank shells found at a Raleigh scrap metal yard.
But the News & Observer of Raleigh reported Friday that authorities are still looking for others who may have been involved.
More than 30 live shells were sold to the scrap metal dealer. One of the weapons exploded last week.
Three men arrested early last week are being held on immigration violations. The fourth man was arrested a few days later in Sanford. He also is charged with entering the U.S. illegally.
Authorities said similar artillery shells and spent casings were found at the home of one defendant. Two of the men said they got the material from the Fort Bragg area.
The FBI, local police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are still investigating.

3 plead guilty in ordnance case
By Laura Arenschield
Staff writer
RALEIGH — The three men accused of taking unexploded ordnance from Fort Bragg and selling it to a Raleigh scrap metal company have pleaded guilty in federal court to immigration charges.
Adrian Nunez-Aviles and Javier Gomez-Urieta each pleaded guilty to being an illegal immigrant in possession of a firearm. Salvador Gomez-Urieta, Javier Gomez-Urieta’s brother, pleaded guilty to improperly entering the United States.
The three men were charged in February after an investigation of an explosion at Raleigh Metal Works.
Investigators followed a tip to a home outside Broadway in Harnett County, where they found the three men. They also found spent rounds of anti-tank munitions there.
Investigators at the time also searched two homes in Sanford and found live and spent munitions.
Agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement charged the three men with being in the country illegally.
The live ordnance exploded Feb. 12 at Raleigh Metal Works, south of the city near Interstate 40. Two workers were injured — neither seriously — and homes and businesses nearby were evacuated.
The Army sent explosives experts from Fort Bragg to Raleigh to search for and destroy additional live rounds and to determine what kind of explosives caused the blast.
The soldiers found that the blasts came from anti-tank 90 mm rifle rounds and anti-tank projectiles.
Salvador Gomez-Urieta pleaded guilty in March and was sentenced to time served and ordered to pay a $10 fine.
Robin G. Zier, a public information officer for U.S. District Court in Raleigh, said she could not say if he had been deported.
Javier Gomez-Urieta reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in May and is scheduled to be sentenced in August. Under the agreement, he will plead guilty to being an illegal alien possessing a firearm. Prosecutors agreed to drop charges that he was in the country illegally.
Nunez-Aviles agreed to the same terms June 9 and is scheduled to be sentenced in September.

They weren't deported????!!!!!!!
Bush and most of the US Justice Department need to be impeached and we need our money back for every dime these traitors have been paid for the past 8 years of their non-service to our country.
I'm sure they called El Pueblo for an intervention. It's not possible that a lawyer for the US Justice Department dropped the "you're in our country illegally" part of an immigration violation in exchange for a $10 fine on their own is it? Because well besides being the dumbest thing a lawyer could be, that would just plain be illegal wouldn't it?
I think release back into society of an illegal alien by the US Justice Department violates US Immigration Law .. the "aiding and abetting" section.
If I were Osama bin Laden, I'd hide out in America as an illegal alien. The Idaho Supreme Court will qualify him for indigent medical assistance to take care of his kidneys, the US Justice Department will fine him $10, drop his illegal alien charge and release him as a resident. North Carolina's El Pueblo will give him a state-funded scholarship to attend UNC Globalist University. New York will provide him with a Free Festival to train him on his immigrant rights.
And then the IRS will give him 501 C3 status to open up a not-for-profit training center in DC so Bank of America and Wachovia can fund terrorists to take over our nation without the cumbersome task of having to hijack airplanes first.
He better keep his butt out of Oklahoma though.

Well it didn't say they "weren't deported" but I wonder if they claimed they had children at home so they were allowed to leave and given a time to come back to court. Which I'm sure they would. Of course they would. All illegal immigrants obey the law and come back for their court date...don't they? Ahhh, I mean you don't think they would just ignore the court and not show up do you? Oh, of course they wouldn't do that would they? What a pile of BS. Can you believe that any US citizen who was involved with stealing amunitons...er... I mean in posession of a "firearm" would get time served and a $10 dollar fine? Of coure they wouldn't. They'd be in jail for the next ten years and no telling what fines they would have to pay. Also I'm wondering who paid for thier lawyers? Could it be La RAZA...er I mean El Pueblo who get their funding from our great state of NC's generous legislators? Man it's getting unreal how things are going down here in NC.
