More fallout from last week's immigration raid in New Bedford

There's more fallout from last week's immigration raid at a leather goods factory in New Bedford.

Congressman William Delahunt is promising a Capitol Hill investigation into the round-up of more than 360 alleged illegal aliens at Michael Bianco Incorporated.

Delahunt joined Senators Kennedy and Kerry and other members of the state's congressional delegation in criticizing the separation of children from their parents after the raid.

Meantime, Massachusetts Department of Social Services Commissioner Harry Spence says social workers have interviewed more workers snared in last week's raid.

Social workers visited two detention centers in Texas over the weekend.

In all, they've talked to 206 immigrant workers at the Port Isabel Detention Center and another Immigration and Customs Enforcement center in El Paso.

Spence says they are finding adults in the centers who were the sole caregivers for young children.

There are at least 10 such parents in Port Isabel and another 20 in El Paso.

He's asking federal authorities to release those individuals, but no decision has been made yet.

The children left alone back in Massachusetts range in age from two-to-16, including one who requires a feeding tube.

Spence says all of the children were probably born in the United States, making them U-S citizens.
