Father, son arrested in Princeton as illegal immigrants

A longtime Princeton Township resident and his son — both alleged illegal immigrants — were arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers at their home early Thursday morning.

The arrested man’s wife is now attempting to fight deportation for herself and her family to their native Guatemala with the help of an attorney and support from local immigrant advocates and members of their church.

Javier Quiej, 39, and his son, Princeton High School graduate Javier Quiej Jr., 19, were arrested by an ICE fugitive team around 6 a.m. Thursday, according to ICE spokesman Michael Gilhooly. Both men had warrants of deportation, and both had been ordered to leave the country by Sept. 9, 1997 by an immigration judge, Mr. Gilhooly said.

deport them immediately. No reprieve to sell their house or possessions. All were obtained with $ from working illegally. Bank account should be seized.

The once-"conquered" scourge of tuberculosis has made a terrifying comeback, especially in America's inner cities (the American Lung Association has called TB "out of control"), and drug-resistant TB accounts for more and more new cases. The reason? Record legal and illegal immigration levels. Indeed, the highest numbers of multi-drug-resistant TB cases are in New York, California, Texas and Florida – states with the highest populations of new immigrants.

Leprosy, the contagious skin disease evoking thoughts of biblical and medieval times, is now making its mark in the United States, and many believe the influx of illegal aliens is the main factor.

Avian influenza – or "bird flu" – has caused such concern at the highest level of the U.S. government that in 2005, the Congressional Budget Office reported that a severe pandemic of avian flu hitting the U.S. would kill 2 million Americans and throw the country into a major recession.

Other diseases once virtually unknown in America, like Chagas disease and Dengue fever, are cropping up in southern border areas, while old and much-feared plagues like polio and malaria are also on the upswing.

Compounding all of this, the astronomical number of illegal aliens swarming into the United States is forcing the closure of dozens of hospitals, spreading previously vanquished diseases and threatening to destroy America's prized health-care system.

The humane and compassionate thing for illegal alien advocate Juega to do is to get the Guatemalan consulate to assist in paying for the relocation of this woman and her kids back to Guatemala and to pay for the medical needs of the child. That is the Guatemlan governments obligation. Why doesn't the Guatemlan consulate show their humanity and compassion for their people? Juega and her organization should be investigated for possible aiding/abetting/harboring/hiring/assisting illegal immigrants.

[quote]A tearful Ms. Quiej, who only speaks Spanish, said through Ms. Juega on Thursday that she is attempting to contact the hospital where her daughter is receiving treatment to get documentation to provide to the immigration authorities.

Her lawyer, Princeton-based immigration attorney Stephen Traylor, could not be reached for comment Thursday.

If the family is deported to Guatemala, “I won’t be able to take care of her there,â€

I agree that the their consulate should help them but we know how most of these country's treat their citizens....truely a shame on them.

I think the mother and the child should be allowed to stay until she has her surgery, what the hell after this long, and we bring people in from all over the world for medical treatment.

I would not deny a child surgery, let her have it then they can meet their family afterwards in their own country, the church can help them with money to stay until it is over.
