Radio Host Talks Tough On Immigration
Radio Host Talks Tough On Immigration
Fri Apr 6, 5:32 PM ET
Nationally-syndicated radio talk show Mike Gallagher told a Greenville audience that Americans are fed up with illegal immigration and it is time for the nation's leaders to begin paying attention.
Gallagher spoke to a crowd of about 600 Thursday night at the Hyatt Regency as part of radio station WORD's speakers series.
Gallagher called on Congress and President George W. Bush to secure the border.
"The Senate and the House voted to put up a fence, and now they say there won't be a fence," Gallagher said. "President Bush says he wants to be tough on the borders and it doesn't seem like we're being tough on the borders."
Gallagher, whose show airs at 10 a.m. weekdays on WORD, is a former Greenville resident and local radio host.
Estimates are that there are 12 million illegal immigrants now in the United States.
According to a recent USA Today/Gallup poll of issues Republicans want Congress and the president to address, immigration ranks fourth.
But most presidential candidate are steering clear of the topic.
"Immigration seems to be on the mind of voters -- less so on the minds of presidential candidates," Greenville News political writer Dan Hoover said. "It seems to be such an insoluble issue that they'd rather not address it or address it only when pressed."

Well, thanks to Tancredo and Hunter the issue is on the table and those candidates that think they will get out of any debate or public function without answering the tough questions should ask McCain what happened to him. This is THE deciding issue to many Americans, myself included. I sent letters to all of the candidates and told them that Amnesty and the SPP/NAU are non-negotiable to me and my family. We are absolutely voting based first on the candidate who most reflects our values regarding Amenesty. Any candidate who tries to out run this issue will find himself no longer relevant in this election. They better get that message quickly.
I think McCain did but the damage is done for him as his poor contributions show. It is high time these politicans remember who it is that butters their bread, the voter and not the illegal they have been pandering to or avoiding altogether. No one is coming out of this race without having taken a side.

mccain got NOTHING!
Don't be fooled by sweet talk from the PERPETUAL LYING MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.
What he did get is that he's fried and he'll do ANYTHING to resurrect himself.
*** however, he's too deeply involved with OIL & ENERGY {mex} and the NAU/SPP to ever stop this invasion.
He's just going to try to get in from the back door.
Look deep. Ever wonder why there are never any POWs standing beside him?Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
