In addition to chasing the man with a knife, Pantaleon was also in the country illegally.

BRIDGETON — A workplace dispute led to one man chasing another with a knife Sunday evening, police reported.

Librado M. Pantaleon, 20, of Bank Street, has been charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, making terroristic threats, and aggravated assault for the alleged offenses.

Police responded to Lakeview Avenue just before 7 p.m. for a report of one man chasing another with a knife.

When they arrived, officers found a man who said a former coworker, Pantaleon, had picked a fight with him, pulled out a knife, and then threatened to kill him.

The man turned tail and ran away, with Pantaleon hot on his heels with the knife. He eventually managed to escape.

Officers combed the area and found Pantaleon, who they told to lie on the ground until the man could be brought to confirm his identity. The man arrived and said it was Pantaleon who had been chasing him.

The officers also found a folding knife less than 10 feet from where they had found Pantaleon.

While charging him, police learned that Pantaleon was also in the country illegally.

He was lodged in the Cumberland County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

Chief Mark Ott said that the argument involved the recent loss of Pantaleon’s job, although he declined to elaborate.
