STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.


Speaking on immigration, McMahon said he supports the DREAM Act, which would give exemplary children brought to this country by undocumented parents a "rigorous" path to citizenship.

McMahon, whose mother emigrated from Germany years ago, also said that illegal immigrants who commit felonies should be deported, and said he had voted to allocate $500 million to build a border wall.

Grimm countered that those who are in this country illegally already have committed a crime. He said the DREAM Act would be the "beginning of amnesty" for illegals, and that he supports building a fence along the Mexican border.
