According to Cathy Zappala, owner of the farm, federal immigration agents stormed the farm looking for one worker who they say was illegal, and ended up “pulling workers off the van, throw(ing) them to the ground, and tying their hands behind their backs,â€

My understanding is that with that visa program, they have to provide housing for workers, as well as medical care and a decent wage (I heard $9 per hour, but I would need to verify that.) Of course, if you pay the laborers $5 or $6 per hour and no benefits, your labor costs are cheap. So, she wants to take the cheap road! Well, tough cookies!

However, according to Mike Gilhooly, a public information official with ICE, when agents pulled over a van on Muck Drive thinking that the person named in the arrest warrant would be there, they discovered 16 people who they determined were illegal.

“According to the supervisor... after interviewing each of the suspects... all of the original 16 admitted that they were here illegally,â€
