GLENS FALLS -- An illegal immigrant who was arrested last month for allegedly choking a woman has been charged with a felony for having a fake ID and misdemeanor for injuring a child, police said.

Pastor Vite-Reyes, 30, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and endangering the welfare of a child after an investigation by State Police, authorities said.

He was initially arrested in February in connection with a domestic dispute at a home in Village Green Apartments, according to police. Police then determined he had spanked and bruised a child at the home as well, and that he possessed a fake ID card, Glens Falls Police Detective Lt. Pete Casertino said.

Vite-Reyes was being held in Albany County Jail after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents picked him up pending deportation proceedings.
