Police, Responding to Complaints, Arrest 10 Men at Day Laborer Gathering Place

The police arrested 10 immigrants on Tuesday on charges that they blocked a sidewalk at a popular gathering place for day laborers in Jackson Heights, Queens, the chief spokesman of the Police Department said.

The arrests came in response to repeated calls from neighborhood residents complaining about the laborers —most of them undocumented — who congregate every day at the intersection of Broadway, 37th Avenue and 69th Street, said the spokesman, Paul J. Browne.

“Police responded to community complaints about them blocking the sidewalk and congregating,â€

She said that both she and her husband were in the country illegally and had four children, all of whom had been born in the United States. She said she was afraid that her husband was going to be deported.

“He’s the one who works,â€

This sounds like a very good tip on how to get illegals off the streets. Call the police and complain about them congregating, demand they be arrested when the police show up. If it happens enough, the IAs will stop coming.

Grass roots, low level enforcement techniques....is this what we need?

A diminutive Mexican woman pushing a 2-year-old boy in a stroller appeared at the intersection, tears dampening her cheeks. She said her husband was one of those arrested.

The arrested husband needed her and the kid for what? To make a pity play with the cops? Cry to the media?

Let me guess.....you came here illegally to give your children a better life, even though not a one of them existed until after you parked your criminal ass here illegally, right?

Well, I guess one of us has to be afraid your husband will be deported.

I, personally, don't think they can deport him fast enough.

What crap...they should have no rights under the U.S. constitution that protects U.S. citizens....YOUR ILLEGAL! and why are they letting them gather on the street corners of OUR country when they should not be here in the first Place!

Police will find they can no longer ignore citizens complaints about these law-breaking ingrates. Loitering is illegal in many cities and towns, but somehow it's OK when "day laborers" (many, if not all, illegal aliens) loiter in large numbers??? Enough is enough! GET THEM OUT OF MY COUNTRY!!!! TAKE THEIR ANCHORS TOO!
