House panel to hear firsthand accounts of crime along Mexican border

Skewed reporting on crime along the U.S.-Mexico border will be the focus of a House Homeland Security Committee oversight hearing on Wednesday, according to the presiding lawmaker.

Congressional hearings are nothing but a waste of time. Nothing happens, regardless of how much is uncovered. They listen - and nothing changes.

Sometimes I watch them on C-Span when it is important to me - the pet food hearings because I lost two beloved cats to the poisoned food from China. No penalties for Menu Foods, no penalties for the CEO who withheld notification after the test animals became sick and died because he sold his stock first, thousands of our beloved pets died and nothing came of it.

I watched the food industry hearings about the contamination of peanuts from salmonella - nothing changed and the company filed for bankruptcy afterwards.

I watched the hearings and the testimony of grief-stricken relatives of victims of contaminated Heparin imported from China. Most were kidney dialysis patients but my husband had open heart surgery at that time and had complications which still are not understood and I wondered if it was from the Heparin he received. Nothing has changed - people died unnecessarily and fascist corporations are still allowed to import medications from countries that hate us.

Nothing changed from the financial hearings that led to the destruction of our economy. Wall Street, big corporations, banking giants - all were grilled, lots of irregularity identified, a weak attempt at changing business as usual, nothing really has changed and we are all suffering still from the effects.

So we will all pay close attention to the hearings and for traitor politicians listening to business and the Chamber of Commerce and pro-amnesty groups, nothing will change.

They will be preaching to the choir that no one will be listening to the singing.
