Apparently the discussion on this thread is getting away from the subject of the article posted.

Eric Crafton worked his tail off trying to get this passed so a big KUDOS to him. Since 30 states and growing already have English only policies, Tennessee will eventually follow and so will the Federal Government.

I just saw the news on Headline News. I'm upset about this even though I don't live in Tennessee. I feel sorry for all people that to put up with catering to people in other languages. Please everyone check out this video with Pro English advocate K.C. McAlpin. It was taken last year at the Hold Their Feet To The Fire rally.

Nashville rejects English-only measure
Following up on yesterday's comment-generating post, Nashville voters rejected a measure to mandate that all government business be conducted only in English. The margin was nearly 10,000 votes.
The Tennessean reports that 19% of eligible voters went to the polls. The paper termed that a "massive turnout," the largest for a special election in a decade.

Only 19% of the eligible voters even bothered to vote.
That is why this country is in the mess that it is in.NO AMNESTY

Proponents said using one language would have united the city and saved money, but business leaders, academics and the city's mayor worried it could give the city a bad reputation. Similar measures have passed elsewhere.
Point being, there are ways to communicate with a little wherewithal when you are a tourist. Tourists don't usually need to deal with official government documents, so this means that they are only concerned about dealing with non-English-speaking non-tourists. Makes one wonder.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

that is a shame more people did not get out and vote since it is their American duty. And a slap in the face to the men and women who are waging a war to protect our borders and the American way of life. Trying to protect our country and our constitution and laws.

This issue, like most issues, has a small vocal minority for and a small vocal minority against,
and most people just don't take the time to care one way or the other.NO AMNESTY
