Sindy Ventura, 27, has been indicted in the fatal stabbing of Vicente Villegas-Guarneros inside a Mesa apartment on Nov. 15, Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas said Friday.
Ventura was arrested Nov. 24 and is being held in county jail without bond. This week, a grand jury indicted Ventura on one count of second-degree murder. According to a county news release, police have probable cause to believe Ventura is in the country illegally.
According to court documents, investigators were led to Ventura after a friend of hers informed them that Ventura had described the stabbing in detail. The body had been found in a unit at the Verandas Apartments, 1415 N. Country Club Drive.
