    NC - 287g program works!

'Wild-goose chase' lands two in jail

An unusual shooting investigation landed both an accused gunman and his victim in the hands of the 287(g) program overnight Saturday.

They are allegedly in the U.S. illegally and are being processed by the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement unit.

Eder Salgado Calvo, 20, of First Street, Haw River, is charged with shooting Edgar Martinez, 33, of Wilkins Road, Burlington, in the left leg.
Martinez, whose injuries were not life-threatening, is charged with giving false reports to Burlington police.

Alamance County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Randy Jones said the shooting was originally reported to Burlington police.

After several hours of investigation, police determined Martinez had reported false information about the shooting, including where the shooting occurred.
When police detectives concluded that the shooting happened in a trailer park off at 1509 Apple Street Extension, outside city limits near Hopedale, the investigation was transferred to the sheriff’s office.

Martinez was shot in the leg while inside his mobile home.

Deputies charged Calvo with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into occupied property and going armed to the terror of the public.
During a follow-up search of Calvo’s property, investigators found four false IDs, including two social security cards with different names and two resident alien cards with different names, Jones said. The sheriff’s department charged him with possession of fraudulent identification.

Calvo is being held under a $50,000 bond at Alamance County Jail and is being processed under the 287(g) program. Jones said it appears Calvo is in the U.S. illegally.
Because Martinez was charged with making a false report, he was also screened by ICE. Martinez’s fingerprints came up under two different names in the ICE system, Jones said.

“I don’t know the status of the contact, whether he gave them information before or was previously deported or what Â… but he apparently has a history of contact with ICE,â€

NC needs to come out of the dark ages like the rest of the south and elect republican state house and senate and most of all governor-all the states around us have lower gas tax, lower food tax, lower fines for driving infractions, lower prices for plates,licenses,etc-The lie that democrats are for the poor, always comes out when they vote to increase taxes on little things. Also for everyone that laughs when the rich peoples property tax goes up,it goes up for you too by rent increases if you live in a apt.
