CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two illegal immigrants tried to get into restricted employee-only areas at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport late last month, according to federal criminal complaints.

The men would have gained access to baggage, the tarmac and even planes.

The documents state when Liborio Flores and Miguel Rodriguez got to security, however, officers immediately knew something wasn’t right.

Airport officials said their social security cards looked fake, so the two men were detained.

The documents show the men told officers they were born and raised in Monroe, but when border protection agents got to the airport it was revealed both men were in the country illegally.

Airport officials said the two Mexican nationals didn't appear to have any sinister intentions. They were employed by a local roofing company that was doing some work at the airport.

Authorities said both men have been caught being in the country illegally before and will likely be deported.

Airport officials said they do not have the name of the local roofing company that employed the illegal immigrants.

Security measures to gain employee access at the airport include everything from fingerprinting to criminal background checks.
