Pair charged with stealing 500 railroad spikes in Henderson County

FLAT ROCK — Henderson County Sheriff's deputies caught two men pulling up hundreds of steel railroad spikes from a section of active train tracks near Flat Rock, Sheriff Rick Davis said.

A witness called 911 around 3:30 p.m. Sunday reporting suspicious activity on the tracks, which are owned by Norfolk Southern Railroad, near West Blue Ridge Road.

Deputies found Cruz Mario Carnacion, 37, and Jose Luis Trejo-Yanez in possession of more than 500 7-inch spikes, which weigh about a half-pound each and can be sold for scrap.

Davis called the pair's actions “incredibly selfish,â€

Seems to me the Citizens should be down right outraged by this...hey Janet Nappypolytano..."what ya gonna do"??? You sure made a statement about Tea Party people being classified as "terrorists"..put you money where your mouth is...

Sure let them go back so they can sneak in to the Country again illegally....

In my area, the illegals that do the building come back at night to steal the stuff. What's funny is that when they were building a house, the home builder decided to put up fake cameras with a a sign that let people know they were being watched. It didn't work. Then they put that same sign up in Spanish, it worked.

In Atlanta Georgia they are stealing the steel grates from the streets (could cause many car accidents and endanger lives), stealing the catalytic converters from under cars for the platinum scrap and of course all the copper from buildings commercial and residential condensers. All of these scrap metal crimes are new to us. We have never had it in this abundance before in my lifetime.

They must have had some inside help. How can they steal so many spikes and not get caught right away. Somebody was asleep at the switch. Probably another illegal alien?

I know, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Estonia, which has no copper mines, became the largest exporter of copper. They were trying to put up streetlights, but every night the wiring was pulled out.
