GRAHAM - Members of the U.S. Department of Justice toured dif-ferent Alamance County courts this week as part of a statewide investigation into whether people with limited English proficiency have equal access to court services.

The Coordination and Review Section of the department’s Civil Rights Division announced last May that it planned to investigate the N.C. Administrative Office of the Courts in response to a complaint filed in 2006 by local attorney Ebher Rossi Jr.

In the complaint, Rossi claimed that non-English speakers, specifically Hispanics, received unequal treatment based on their country of origin by the Administrative Office of the Courts, the government body that oversees the courts in the state.

Alamance County Chief District Court Judge Jim Roberson said Thursday that two representatives with the Department of Justice visited Alamance County courts Monday and Wednesday.

“They were doing an evaluation of our state policy and individual courtâ€

    Awh, Eb.

Maybe he'd like to give up his lucrative immigration law practice to translate for the courts.

    who side are they on

Just who side is the justice department on? Why should tax payers have to pay for interpreters? They need to pay for there own or the country of origin need to pay for them along with all there other court cost.

In the complaint, Rossi claimed that non-English speakers, specifically Hispanics, received unequal treatment based on their country of origin by the Administrative Office of the Courts, the government body that oversees the courts in the state.
Once again hispanics are complaining about unequal treatment because they are not being given enough free court interpreters and the Justice Department jumps at their complaint as if the world were coming to an end.

Why doesn't the Justice department go and INVESTIGATE WHY OUR GOVERNMENT REFUSES TO SECURE OUR BORDERS AND THE RESULTING DEATHS OF AMERICAN CITIZENS AT THE HANDS OF ILLEGAL INVADERS

I wonder if I as an American Citizen would get the same service if I filed a complaint with the Justice Department to investigate the above complaint.

How about a compromise. We provide interpreters if they prove citizenship.
