Arkansas had the fastest growing Hispanic population nationwide between 2000 and 2005 or 48 percent, according to a Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation study.

The study also found the population of immigrants in Arkansas is growing much faster than the national average. About half of Arkansas immigrants are undocumented and most come to the state for work.

The highest foreign-born population shares can be found along the western edge of Arkansas, with the largest communities in Springdale, Rogers, Fayetteville and Fort Smith. The study was released in 2007 and the growing trend would suggest the numbers are greater today.

Who cares how they have "transitioned"????? Sounds just as bad as NC stations and papers, can't bend over far enough for 'em.

Soon after the Mexican consulate opened,a friend and I went into it fundamentally just to look around at the facility and its staff. We were quickly advised that unless we had business there we should leave.Inquiring as to why since we were hamlessly looking around,we were told it was legally Mexican property and that once again,we should leave. We left. They made no friends that day.
