According to Border Control, fewer illegal immigrants are crossing into Montana's borders.

The number of illegal immigrants caught crossing the border has been on a dramatic decline since 2005.

The Border Patrol Havre Sector controls 452 miles of US and Canadian border. The patrol area extends from the continental divide all the way to North Dakota.

So far this year, the patrol has stopped 253 people attempting to illegally enter Montana. That's a 55% percent decrease from 2005, when 948 illegal immigrants were stopped.

The nation as a whole has seen a decrease in the number of people trying to illegally cross the U.S. border.

However, there has been a slight increase in the number of people trying to cross from the north.
