Authorities Arrest 27 in Illegal Immigration Sweep

Federal immigration agents have arrested 27 people in and around Grand Island this week as part of an operation aimed at finding illegal immigrants who disobeyed deportation orders.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Tim Counts said Friday the agency's Fugitive Operations Team made the arrests.

The team gives priority to making arrests in cases where there is a perceived threat to national security or community safety. But Counts says its not immediately clear what threat the people arrested in Nebraska represented.

He says many of the people arrested were jailed in Hall County, which has a federal contract to house people suspected of illegal immigration.

Hello? Anyone violating our laws is a threat to national security, and since no one knows who these people really are or their motive being here, they are an unknown threat to community safety, not to mention taking jobs from Americans in need in that community.
