Nebraska leadership wimping out, no spine...all jellyfish? Immigration Enforcement bills look to be in trouble:

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Three days after angrily criticizing lawmakers for killing his immigration bill and encouraging them to bring it back, Governor Dave Heineman says he's not going to lobby them to do so.

Instead, Heineman said on Monday he'll leave it up to Senator Mike Friend of Omaha to talk to members of the Judiciary Committee. But Friend, who introduced the bill (LB963), says he isn't going to push hard for the bill to be reconsidered, saying, "I don't know if it's my job to tell them to vote again."

The Heineman-backed bill would require state agencies to verify that residents applying for state benefits are in the United States legally and would prohibit illegal immigrants from obtaining state or local benefits, such as food assistance.
