Illegal Immigration Bills Draw Big Crowd

Legislative proposals meant to stem the flow of illegal immigrants to Nebraska brought an overflow crowd and heated testimony.

The Legislature's Judiciary Committee on Wednesday heard from people about a bill (LB403) to require that state and local agencies verify the legal status of anyone trying to collect public benefits. The bill lists food aid, unemployment, public housing, welfare and retirement among the benefits.

Another bill (LB34) would require that all employers check their employees' legal status once hired. And a resolution (LR9) would encourage law enforcement agencies in Nebraska to join a federal program in which they train for and gain authorization to enforce federal immigration law.

Why in the hell is this not being done already!!! Why do we seemingly always need a bill to enforce common sense! This country is going belly up and we still have to debate whether or not illegal invaders should be getting FREE ANYTHING !
