Legislature on Illegal Workers? Wait Until Next Year!

    May 27, 2011

The Legislature went home after a 2011 session that didn’t dwell on the controversy of illegal immigrant workers, or the cheapskate employers who hire them.

    But wait until next year!

The United States Supreme Court said Thursday that Arizona acted within a state’s legitimate authority when it passed a precisely written law in 2007 to penalize businesses that deliberately hire illegal immigrants.

The high court’s 5-3 decision was a slap in the head to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Obama administration and a variety of business and civil rights groups. Along with the cheapskate employers who deliberately hire illegal workers.

The Legal Arizona Workers Act provides that the licenses of employers that knowingly or intentionally employ unauthorized aliens may be, and in certain circumstances must be, suspended or revoked. The law also requires that all Arizona employers use the federal E-Verify system.

There is scheduled to be at least one interim hearing on illegal immigration in Nebraska this summer. It will be interesting to see how some of the libs and RINO's who will be involved in the hearings react to the Arizona Supreme Court decision. I'm sure they will try to act like it never even happened.
