Lincoln man goes to prison for meth conspiracy

A 36-year-old Lincoln man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years and a month in federal prison for a meth conspiracy and a weapon charge.
"This was not a minor, one-time transaction by any means," U.S. District Judge John M. Gerrard told Martin Quintana Morales before he sentenced him.

Morales had pleaded guilty in January to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm.
A month later, his co-defendant, Ruben Carrillo Castellon, was sentenced to seven years and three months for his role in the conspiracy.

U.S. Attorney Deborah R. Gilg said Morales and Carrillo were involved in selling meth to undercover officers and others at a Lincoln mobile home park near North 27th Street and Cornhusker Highway in early 2011.

Carrillo was arrested March 30, 2011, on his way to sell 6 ounces of meth to an undercover officer. His 2-year-old son was in the car.
Both men are expected to be deported when they are done serving their sentences.
