NM- Hispanic governor against illegal immigrants

Monday, March 07, 2011 By Claudia Soto

A Conservative Republican, Susana Martinez is also the first Hispanic female governor. Unfortunately, this governor has provoked anger and fear in many illegal and legal immigrants throughout the nation. Susana Martinez is working to repeal a state law that encourages illegal immigrants to attain a driver’s license by prohibiting authorities from investigating their legal status when arrested for a crime. The state of New Mexico is one of the four states that still allow illegal immigrants to get driver’s license. Martinez feels this is a needed measure to better insure the safety of the residents of New Mexico.

Even though this upsets many Americans, it’s not that simple to obtain a driver‘s license. The MVD in New Mexico requires proof of your registered car in New Mexico or a New Mexico address where you can receive mail. If any foreign or immigrant provides false or misleading information to obtain a New Mexico license it is considered a crime. This repeal would only apply to drivers who committed a crime not drivers who are pulled over for traffic violations. Crimes committed by illegal immigrants are one of the top 10 legislative issues. Other states are also taking a stand against illegal immigration, the Mississippi House attempted to pass a bill allowing law-enforcement officers to check the legal status of anyone they suspect is illegal. The State Senate, however, rejected this notion in February and sent it back to the conference committee. It looks like this measure will be passed. Illegal immigration has been a touchy subject in America since its founding, today’s politicians; however, seem to come together on the idea that something needs to be done about the amount of illegal immigrants in the U.S. today.

To be fair, conservatives believe they understand the word illegal differently. Comments of a conservative: All countries have borders. Wonder why? Oh, they want to know who is coming into their country so they can keep the country from being attached within. Immigration, yes we are a country of immigrants. Legal immigrants that came over with the proper identification and background checks. All, and I repeat ALL, illegal immigrants at the very least steal from US citizens. Medical cost, food stamps, well fare, housing subsidizing, free college, and more! We, US legal citizens, can no longer afford this. Nor can we afford the cost of protecting ourselves in a nation where many dangerous illegals are using our porous borders to infiltrate our country with intent to do harm. Not only do I support NOT issuing drivers licenses to illegals, I support a complete 100% shut down of our borders.

Good for you Governor, you are an American first and this is where your loyalties are. Send the invaders back where they belong and give them nothing whatsoever that aids them in any way. Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are traitors who will give the country away if we let them. You are sending a great message to everyone about what this country is about.
