Kearney, NE -
We are learning more about the situation involving Kearney businessman Paul Younes and an undocumented immigrant he employed for more than a year. It was Tuesday when we first heard that Younes admitted to breaking the law.

Court documents say Younes was covering up the illegal employment of Blanca Gama.

Records show she originally worked as a housekeeping supervisor at the Holiday Inn in Hastings before the Social Security Administration began investigating her.

Younes then allowed Gama to move to the Fairfield Inn in Kearney in 2014 using the name Elizabeth Gomez for cover.

There, prosecutors say, she was paid under the table using a special Fairfield Inn account.

The US Attorney says Younes later rehired Gama at the Hastings Holiday Inn under the fake name Jacqueline Lopez.

NTV spoke with Billie Herron, a former employee of Younes who worked in several of his hotels for more than 10 years.

Herron said she was crushed when the news broke.

"For him to do something illegal, I don't know that he would do it knowingly," said Herron.

"You're not going to find a better employer. He is the type of guy that wears $600 business suits and he'll take it off and be right next to you cutting vegetables," said Herron. “That's just the type of guy he is; he's just that genuine.”

Younes will be sentenced May 9 after pleading guilty to breaking federal hiring laws.
