XALAPA, VERACRUZ, MEXICO
The Governor of the State of Veracruz stripped 800 police officers from the municipalities of Xalapa-Banderilla-San Andrés Tlanehuayocan of their ID’s, badges, weapons and equipment, and dissolved the departments. Police services will be handled by the state agencies. He previously did the same in the municipalities of Panuco, La Antigua, Rafael Lucio, and Tampico Alto. The Governor said that this shows that in the state there is no crime with impunity. -Milenio

MORELIA, MICHOACAN
Over 1,300 residents have fled villages to escape violence in the western state of Michoacan. (Often police in rural areas and the smaller villages of Mexico may not even be armed as they can’t afford to buy their own weapons or ammo.) State officials opened shelters for the people, until they were able to return.-Diario and others

Areas of the country from the rain forests near Cancun to Coahuila, Tamaulipas and westward are dealing with continuing wildfires caused by lack of rain and temperatures as high as 115°F. Over the weekend, three teen fire fighters lost in the rain forest of Quintana Roo, northwest of Cancun, were found by family and 200 volunteers after being lost several days.-Milenio and others. (These fires can indirectly affect the US through destruction of produce growing areas, including flooding caused by no vegetation, which washes away top soil for agriculture. Thus increasing prices and causing shortages if all produce is needed for their own.)

Police Chief Leyzaola challenges members of the Sinaloa Cartel, after learning of the arrest of 4 men for the assassination of the commander of the Benito Juarez municipal police station (Above). Also in the past few days, Leyzaola has worked from that station , after officers said they were too afraid to work there. The Chief continued to say that there is no doubt in his mind that his agency still has bad cops working for organized crime, and "That makes us vulnerable to attack, we cannot have corrupt people in the Police and I will fire them soon.".
MONTERREY, NUEVO LEÓN
Narco banners directed to the state Governor, Rodrigo Medina, were hung in the city, one near Sam’s Club. The messages complained that the prisons have been infiltrated by the Gulf Cartel, and named the exact prisons. The message professed to be signed by ‘guards’.

In Latin America, prices are jumping
(It may be too early to know for sure, but this could easily encourage more people to leave their respective countries and either come into America illegally or to seek asylum here, using narco violence as the causative factor. With the violence rapidly spreading southward into Guatemala (29 farm workers recently killed by Zetas there) and other countries, their nationals may also migrate elsewhere.)
