State Sen. Russell Pearce denies on this weekend's "Sunday Square Off" that he agreed not to move Illegal immigration bills through the Senate next year, as part of a deal to win the Senate presidency.

Several incoming Republican senators have told 12 News that Pearce cut the deal in order to win votes. He won the Senate presidency Wednesday on the fourth ballot.

Pearce also explains to host Brahm Resnik what he means by relabeling the Senate as "the Tea Party Senate"; whether he'll push for draconian cuts in the state's health insurance program; and whether he sees himself as governor someday.

Also on "Square Off":

--Curves Ahead: The roundtable -- political and PR consultant Chip Scutari of Scutari & Cieslak Public Relations; Democratic State Rep. Kyrsten Sinema of Phoenix; and Howard Fischer, of Capitol Media Services -- takes a hard look at the large Republican majorities in the Legislature and concludes there are plenty of landmines ahead for the leadership troika of Brewer, Adams and Pearce.

--Tea Party Debuts: What's next for the Tea Party movement after several of its candidates win seats in the Legislature? We talk to Republican State Rep.-elect Michelle Ugenti of Fountain Hills and Shane Wikfors, of Red Mountain Consulting and the Sonoran Alliance blog.

--The Morning After: How do the state's Democrats rebound from their Election Day disaster? Opinions from State Rep.-elect Ruben Gallego of Phoenix; Seth Scott, who managed US Rep. Harry Mitchell's two winning campaigns; and former Tempe Mayor Neil Guiliano.

The special hourlong post-election "Sunday Square Off" airs at 8 a.m. Sunday on 12 News, right after "Meet the Press."
