City's new immigration policy detains foreign suspects

One month after Albuquerque unveiled a policy requiring the immigration status of all who are arrested, Eyewitness News 4 asks officials for their assessment.

Since the policy went into effect, officials say federal agents have put temporary holds on 63 suspects, including a suspected drug dealer and an accused attempted murderer.

Public Safety Director Darren White says that’s proof the policy is working. “If they were put back on the streets, they would be committing crimes,â€
