I'm fairly certain her and Trump's Chief of Staff, General John Kelly, think alike on amnesty and the border wall (both support amnesty and neither support Trump's vision of a wall). Her alignment with Kelly is why Kelly pushed for her nomination. I think Trump just went along to get along and acquiesced to Kelly's demand that Nielsen be appointed to head DHS to keep Kelly happy. Right or wrong, that's my opinion on the subject.
