Correction to the title of the article: As new immigration law in Alabama takes effect, ILLEGAL construction and farm workers flee. There are plenty of Americans that would like to reclaim the construction and roofing jobs especially. Those used to be well-paying jobs that one could support a family with, until illegals drove the wages down so low that even they had to live two or three families to a home in order to survive.

Steve: I' actually having my home re-roofed this week. I told the contractor I' better not hear Spanish on our property. He laughed and said he hears that a lot. Good news that homeowners are trying to hire American workers.

All these roofing companies and other construction companies are teaching illegals how to do our jobs, once they learn they venture out on they're own and start they're own businesses, in the meantime the Americans they kicked to the curb have had to start they're own businesses and look for work where they can find it, "These Morons have shot they're selves in the foot twice by hiring illegals and legals alike!" I've seen many Roofing Companies here that have been in business for decades having to close they're doors! "Good Riddance Backstabbers!"

That is exactly what is happening. I watched a program a few months ago about the Mexican tomato and lettuce pickers in California. The people in the fields doing these jobs are now the grandparents and the children of the Hispanics (legal and illegal) The 20 year age span in between these two generations have moved into virtually every occupation known to man in this nation. Roofers, carpet/ tile layers, restaurant help, window washers, senior extended care homes, etc. etc. Most can't or won't even speak the English language, let alone read it. These turncoat employers deserve this.....I hope everyone of them has a daughter that runs off and marries one of these illegals....couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of jerks.

Don't forget to ask Steve about what happens when the WRONG ROOF gets a new roof.

I have a log cabin-- in Centre AL. We had some hail damage and had to replace the roof. My neighbor gave us the name of the fellow who replaced his roof and said to me, "I know how you feel and this roofer only has Americans working for him". How nice to have a group of guys come out and do the job and not send money out of the country.

Oh, yeah--I could understand every word they said.

Okay, Steve, fill me in.

There are many able bodied but unemployed people in the northern industrial states. How about advertising in Detroit and Cleveland? Construction has always been a traveling business, anyway.

Its time we push other states to pass similar laws like the ones in Ga and Al. keep pushing the illegals around until they have no choice but to leave or be arrested and deported. Its not profiline and not harrassment...its called enforcing the law and its about time the Feds get involved as well. Congress needs to put a hault to the whitehouse traitors policy of back door amnesty.
