    WI-Workplace immigration enforcement starts

    Workplace immigration enforcement starts

    Updated: 7/2/2009 8:27:01 AM
    Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) - The Obama administration is investigating hundreds of U.S. businesses as part of its strategy to focus immigration enforcement on employers who hire illegal workers.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement is notifying businesses of plans to audit their I-9 forms. Those are employment eligibility documents that employers fill out for every worker.

The Homeland Security Department says immigration officers served "Notices of Inspection" to 625 businesses. By comparison, 503 such notices were issued to businesses last year.

ICE spokeswoman Gail Montenegro says 32 notices have been sent to businesses within the six states the Chicago ICE office oversees.

Those states are Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri and Kentucky.

    Montenegro didn't have further details.

Illinois?? That's astounding. I can't wait to find out which businesses.

At one time Illinois had a law against using E-Verify. DHS sued the state and this was over turned.

    A law AGAINST using E-Verify?

What our politicians won't do to help people to break the law. Like the ACLU. Who is on our side?

625 audited, 20 million not audited.

It's a giant joke on us American citizens.

I can hear Janet Murguia and the US Chamber laughing right now.

This is one of the things they are going to use to justify another amnesty. "Well, we have been cracking down."

Yeah, right. I'll believe it when I don't have to PRESS ONE FOR ENGLISH, am not treated to graffiti on a regular basis, don't hear anymore about dead illegals dumped in the desert, guns to Mexico, drunk illegal drivers killing people, yet one more undocumented and past deported rapist . . . .

It never stops. We need to stop it.

The next step is to convince the illegals that lose their jobs, that they would be wise to pack up their belongings now, and head on home.

One very strange thing is: Where is the expected outcry from the Hispanic Caucus?? The silence is deafening...makes me wonder what else could be going on behind this.

If ICE is going to send out a strong message, they need to be sending out this many notices each month. With almost 8 million known illegals working in American jobs; the message needs to go out, hard, and fast.

8 million? I think it's three times that easy. And, the reason why you are not hearing more from the Hispanic community is because we are being sold down the river in our new "transparent" government behind closed doors. I'll tell you right now that Janet doesn't have any intention of enforcing our laws. Unless it's to open the border completely. She looks at these people as just more devotees and voters.
