New U.N. Study Reveals Migration is a Good Thing for Countries
“If anybody ever thought immigration was just an issue in the United States, then they’ve been watching way too much of Lou Dobbs and Bill O’Reilly.

Countries around the globe are coping with their own illegally-arrived migrants and trying to get a handle on the growing problem.

Clearly, it is not a unique problem to any one country. Probably for that reason, the United Nations decided that everybody needs some help with putting the issue in perspective.”

God save us from the UN. It just kills me that the UN is in this country. Kick them out and stop funding the UN.

New U.N. Study Reveals Migration is a Good Thing for Countries
If anybody ever thought immigration was just an issue in the United States, then they've been watching way too much of Lou Dobbs and Bill O'Reilly.

Countries around the globe are coping with their own illegally-arrived migrants and trying to get a handle on the growing problem.

Clearly, it is not a unique problem to any one country. Probably for that reason, the United Nations decided that everybody needs some help with putting the issue in perspective.

Today, the U.N. released a 90-page report titled High Level Dialogue on International Migration and Development.

The report serves as the foundation for panel discussions, symposiums, forums, interactive hearings and meetings at sites around the world that began this past spring and will culminate on September 14 and 15, 2006 with a global discussion of world migration at the U.N. General Assembly.

    U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan

Today's report documented how migration is actually a good thing for all countries. Secretary-General Kofi Annan told the U.N. General Assembly that

The report makes a strong case that international migration, supported by the right policies, can be highly beneficial for the development both of the countries they come from and of those where they arrive.

The report also stated that because of cheap phone cards that enable people to call home more easily, the Internet which lets them stay in contact, yet again, more easily and the ability to send money home more quickly with electronic transfers, the migrants of today cannot be compared with migrants of 100 years ago.

The report found too that the accusation that migrants take the jobs of native workers is, "in many cases," unfounded.

In fact, the report says "by complementing native workers, migrants improve the performance of the receiving economy."

We know this is the last thing critics of illegally-arrived migrants want to hear and there will be accusations that the United Nations is nothing more than a bastion of global liberals, but there's no denying that the United Nations presents a place where countries can gather and compare notes and evaluate the impact of their actions not only on their own countries but on one another.

The United Nations wants to help countries realize the full benefits that migration can bring to their economies. They've released reports that tackle the issues associated with migration such as remittances and labor force policies.

Handbooks to help with migration issues

The U.N. has also released fact sheets that dispel the myths, deflate the exaggerations and defend the facts.

    Some of those facts are:

In 2005, Europe hosted 34 percent of all migrants; Northern America 23 percent, and Asia, 28 percent.

Nearly half of all migrants worldwide are women. In the developed countries they are more numerous than male migrants.

Money sent home by migrants worldwide increased from US$102 billion in 1995 to an estimated US$232 billion in 2005.

One third of global remittances went to only four countries: In order of total money received, they are: India, China, Mexico and France.

Between 1990 and 2005, at least 35 programs were undertaken in both developed and developing countries to bring the status of migrants who were in an irregular situation into conformity with national regulations. Overall, these programs regularized the status of at least 5.3 million migrants.

The only people who care about what the UN says are the people living off of the work of others. The non productive countries of the world are no different than the non productive states in the US in that they are just looking for a free ride. The UN is just trying to promote socialism on a world wide basis.

Considering 33% of the funds the UN gets is from the United States, we are funding our own demise. Someone is supporting this crap and crap it is! We must get out, but how? They certainly think they know whats best. Wrong-o hockey puck!
